Although it may take months if not years to master the Holdem poker, turning yourself into a better player is possible simply with a basic poker strategy. You should apply it consistently because if not, it’ll probably not work as expected.
Not to mention, the key goal behind any poker strategy is to win as much money as possible. The best way to do this is folding the not-so-good hands and play with good hands only. According to the basic Holdem poker strategy, these are the best starting hands you’re likely to come across: A-A, K-K, Q-Q, J-J, 10-10, 9-9, 8-8, A-Ks, A-Qs, K-Qs.
On the flop, it is essential to figure out whether or not you have enhanced your hand. Choose to fold is that is not your case. Playing the river or the turn is similar. Just choose to fold if you didn’t improve your hand.

1. Choose to FOLD if you’re not accompanied by any of the above mentioned best starting hands.
2. Bet or Raise if you’re dealt with any of them.
3. Choose to FOLD if you haven’t made your hand better after the flop.
4. Choose to Raise if you’re able to improve your hand after the flop.
5. FOLD if you haven’t improved your hand after the river or turn.
6. Raise if you’re able to make your hand better after the river or turn.
